Healthy Weight Loss Tip: Limit Your Soda And Junk Food

By: Weight Loss Tips

Losing weight is tough stuff, especially when you realize that you have to say good-bye to some old bad habits. Junk food and soda are part of those bad habits that you have to let go of in order to experience a healthy weight loss.

The problem with junk food and soda is that they are loaded with sugars and packed with high calories. You get a big sugar and caffeine rush that only lasts for a few minutes. Then you crash and you're wanting more of the same junk again.

What is junk food? Junk food is classified as anything that is not within the food pyramid: fast food, chips, ice cream, candy, soda, candy bars, etc. You know...all the "bad" things that you love to eat.

Even school systems are recognizing that junk food is bad for kids and are taking extreme measures to eliminate junk food from our school systems. We need to recognize this importance, too and take action in our personal lives. Here are some ways to cut back on the junk food:

Buy more fresh fruit. Stock your house with lots of apples, bananas and grapes. Instead of grabbing a bag of chips to go, have a handful of sweet, red grapes or a juicy apple.

Leave the junk off your shopping list. Don't buy those little snack cakes or candy bars this week. Instead, go for granola bars or crackers with cheese.

Throw away all junk. Before you can even begin, you have to clean out your cabinets. As you throw away all the junk you see, don't think about it as throwing away money. Think about it as throwing away pounds that would be on your hips.

Finally, for most people, junk food is a way to pacify your emotional needs. What things trigger your need to binge on junk food? By fingering these things, you can learn how to control that urge to go for junk, and instead replace it with better, more positive habits.
